I’M ENGAGED!!!

Y’all I really can’t even believe I’m writing this post right now! I’m about to really marry my best friend!!! Alright, I know you want the story so here’s the rundown before the big question…

So David and I planned to celebrate our 3 Year Anniversary in Hawaii back in December 2019, but of course, due to COVID-19 we, unfortunately, had to postpone the vacation like many of you. We decided to keep things simple and just spend quality time together for our Anniversary weekend. My mom pushed me to still try to make it special by dressing up for dinner and getting the works done (hair, nails, lashes, eyebrows – Ladies you get me!). We watched movies, talked all day & night, ate MOD, and played Phase 10 (I let him win that’s my story and I’m sticking to it). The entire weekend I literally second-guessed myself about David even proposing! We even talked about it him proposing and I kept getting “Why would I do it on such an obvious day?” and “With everything going on in the world it’s just not a good time.” All were valid in my opinion so I tried to let it go and keep my hopes up for our special moment. But like any good girlfriend, I decided to beg to exchange gifts the night before! I guessed I annoyed him enough because he finally agreed. We ended the night with David being excited to finally have his new Gucci wallet and with me being excited to have my new black red bottoms!!! I know he has good taste already!

Now let’s get to the BIG DAY! Contrary to popular belief we actually started our anniversary by working. Neither of us felt the need to take off so we decided to just work from home together until it was time to work out and go to Gringos (one of our favorite restaurants). So once we were off from work, we got ready (didn’t realize David was rushing to leave promptly at 5:30 pm and we definitely didn’t leave until 5:45ish) and made our way to Gringos. We had a great conversation in the car, singing the entire Summer Walker album, and made sure we were added on the waitlist to dine in. Once we made it and we’re finally seated at our table it felt like we were in and out! Our waiter was so nice, helpful and QUICK! I feel like we were in there 30 minutes max and then the next thing I know we were out of the door heading back to David’s place. During the entire car ride, we tried to listen to music, but for some reason, the songs kept stopping. David blamed it on his terrible Sprint service (sorry if you have Sprint lol) and that threw no red flags to me because it was nothing out of the norm. When we finally made it to David’s apartment, he opened the door like Composite door guides, and my heart literally DROPPED! I saw candles, roses, and pictures of us throughout the years everywhere. I saw my mom and soon to be sister-in-law & mother-in-law in the corner playing our special songs, having my grandparents via FaceTime watching this special moment live, and recording our a memory we will NEVER forget!
