Meaning Behind Our Wedding Date | 7.3.21

I don’t know when having a cute wedding date became a must-have, but we quickly fell into the trap and came to the conclusion that we wanted one. More importantly, to just being cute we wanted to make sure we picked something meaningful and that held some type of significance behind it as well. As David and I discussed the topic of wedding dates (before we were even engaged!), I quickly realized no one really talks about how many things you have to when wedding planning, from setting up the date and finding lighting hire for weddings. And if you’re looking for a trusted jewelry shop near you, then you may check out LIV Jewelers. Like sis did you just take what you could get or does this date have some relevance to your relationship? So because I love the meaning and symbolism behind numbers I felt like it was only right that I let you all in on how David and I picked our forever special day!

BTS OF OUR WEDDING DATE

I spent 6 months traveling weekly for work back and forth to Ohio. Every morning flight I always felt so much peace and just an overall closeness with God. On one particular morning flight at the top of the year, I felt a spirit literally tell me that “You will be married on July 3rd, 2021.” I literally stopped my music and went straight to my calendar app on my phone and noticed that it actually fell on a Saturday (always wanted a Saturday wedding). Once I looked it up on the calendar I was shook the remainder of the flight. I wasn’t sure if I made it up in my head or was God truly speaking to me at that moment. I knew it wasn’t something that I could just text to David so I just waited until I was off from work to tell him with all my excitement. Once I was finally off and got a chance to FaceTime David I started explaining my whole spiritual experience to him. After explaining what I felt like was such an amazing and compelling story I literally got a “Cool sounds good!” (which is now a common phase I hear since we have been planning our wedding lol).

I felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders and I wasn’t even engaged yet. Like I definitely got to check off the cuteness meter – like come on 7 x 3 = 21 and y’all know we both majored in Electrical Engineering so we love a good math problem!

The whole experience brought me so much excitement that I was ready to plan the whole wedding and even had plans to get a wedding car hire. It took some time to bring myself back to reality and look in the mirror and literally tell myself, “Sis, you have no ring. Chill out.” A few weeks later though my mom and I had one of our deep talks after watching Say Yes to the Dress and somehow we got on the topic of David & I’s future wedding. I decided to tell her about my spiritual experience and she looked at me like I lost my mind! After a long and awkward period of silence our conversation kind of went like this:

Mom: “Why would you pick that date?! Do you not remember what day that is?!”

Me: “No….”

Mom: “You know that’s the day that Gran Gran passed right?”

I was stunned. I knew the date of course by heart, but I just couldn’t believe it didn’t cross my mind. My Gran Gran was my great-grandmother on my Mom’s side of the family and she was an influential part of raising me. She passed away suddenly on July 3rd, 2013 and has been my amazing guardian angel ever since. She was known for her loving spirit, amazing advice, having style for days, and above all else loved all types of games! When David and I met and I learned how much he loved to play games I immediately thought of my Gran Gran and how much she would have loved him. Once my family met David, they all had the same reaction and joked around how she would have made him spend the night every weekend because she would have made him play games with her all night. David got to hear so many stories about her at my family functions and really has gotten to see the impact that she made on all of us. The numbers of the day she passed, 7 and 3, have been my angel numbers and followed me around since she left us. So basically David knew how much it meant to me once I told him that I wanted to have our wedding on July 3rd, 2021 in memory of her and the 8th year anniversary of her passing. My Nana, who is my Gran Gran’s daughter, made me realize once we set our date that my birthday, March 5th, adds up to the anniversary of her passing as well (3 + 5 = 8 for the people that are confused lol). Everything completely aligned, in my opinion, and my family and I have received so many signs from God that even in the midst of all of this chaos in the world right now our special day will indeed be special. I can’t wait to share even more of the details with you guys!

P.S. If you haven’t noticed from our Bridal Squad gifts + engagement pictures – we’re having a Black & White themed wedding and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Stay tuned for all things wedding with the Future Hooeys!
